Need feedback on your writing?

I believe manuscript critiquing is as important for your work as the cover and the copy editing. Particularly if you are a beginning author. Therefore I am determined to keep my rates low.

Writing your first book (or second, or even tenth) is something you can be immensely proud of. Every new book is a milestone. As committed authors we also continue to learn and constantly try to improve our craft. But at the end of the day you are working alone and when it comes to that precious manuscript, the longer you toil over it, the easier it becomes to lose sight of the big picture.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could check your work along side you before you take the big step and commit your manuscript to an editor?

The good news is: YES! I can help you with that!

If you’re interested, please read on and find out more about the details.

Most developmental editors charge by the hour or base their rates on the complexity of the manuscript.
I choose to base my rates on the number of words in the manuscript. That way you get an accurate picture of the costs at the click of a calculator.

per 1000 words

  • Send me an email with the details of your manuscript (title, genre and word count)
  • I’ll mail you back a quote and the earliest date I’m available to work on your book and when I’ll be able to get the manuscript back to you.
  • If we agree on the price and date, I’ll then send you an invoice.
  • You can pay the invoice via PayPal. I don’t accept creditcards.
  • I complete your feedback using track changes and send it back to you.

Frequently asked questions

I charge $4 per 1000 words. That means if your manuscript is 70K, you’ll pay $280. This price is all-inclusive and there are no additional hidden charges.

Turnaround time depends heavily on the size and scope of your manuscript. I can give you a clearer estimate once I’ve seen the actual manuscript. On average a 70K novel of medium-complexity takes me about two weeks.

If you need to cancel a developmental edit, please let me know as soon as possible. Your payment is refundable up until the day I start working on it. Once I begin working on your manuscript, it becomes non-refundable.

If you don’t want to cancel your developmental edit but only re-schedule, the same refund policy applies but with the exception that your payment goes toward your final balance.

I will do my best never to cancel a feedback arrangement once agreed. However, sometimes life gets in the way. Therefore, I reserve the right to cancel the feedback at any time. If I do so, then all monies paid will be refunded in full within 24 hours of said cancellation.

It’s always possible that one round of developmental edits is not enough for you. In that case you can always book another slot with me at a reduced price of $3 per 1000 words, under the condition that (at the time of your request) it has been no longer than 3 months since I returned your manuscript.

I won’t edit anything that includes topics where children are abused, killed or tortured. Beastiality is a definite no-no as well. Everything else is okay.

Nope, sorry. I strictly do developmental editing. Any incorrect word usage, grammar, punctuation issues etc you will have to discuss with your own editor.
